DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Planning
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, calculations and specifications for roads, drainage networks, earthworks and retaining walls using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro or equivalent.
- Develop cost estimates, bill of quantities and tender documentation in coordination with the Commercial team.
- Project Execution & Coordination
- Oversee site establishment, layout, surveying and setting-out activities; verify that construction follows design intent and tolerances.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, authorities (e.g., ADCPW, Abu Dhabi Municipality), subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams to secure approvals and resolve technical issues.
- Quality Assurance & Control
- Implement the project QA/QC plan: conduct hold-point inspections, material verifications and third-party testing as per ITPs.
- Issue and track Non-Conformance Reports, ensure corrective actions are closed out.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Enforce site HSE procedures in accordance with OSHAD/ADOSH and company policy: lead toolbox talks, safety walk-downs and incident investigations.
- Verify that all permits-to-work (excavation, hot works, confined space) are in place and complied with.
- Schedule & Cost Control
- Monitor progress against the baseline schedule (Primavera P6/MS Project); identify delays and support recovery planning.
- Review subcontractor claims, progress invoices and change orders to maintain budgetary control.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and submit weekly progress reports, RFIs, site instructions, as-built drawings and handover packages.
- Maintain all project records—survey logs, test certificates, correspondence—in an organized filing system.
- Team Collaboration & Mentorship
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, surveyors and site technicians; review their deliverables and provide technical guidance.
- Participate in design reviews, lessons-learned workshops and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited university.
- Experience:
- 3–7 years’ civil engineering experience in the UAE, with demonstrated involvement in roadworks, drainage, earthworks and infrastructure projects.
- Hands-on experience with local approval processes (ADCPW, Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi, etc.).
- Technical Skills & Software:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro, MIDAS or similar; strong Excel skills for quantities and reporting.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6 or MS Project for schedule tracking.
- Certifications & Licenses:
- Valid UAE‐recognized engineering license (e.g., RERA/TRC, ESMA) preferred.
- Professional membership (e.g., Society of Engineers UAE) is an advantage.
