DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
- Measurement & Take-Offs
- Extract and measure quantities from drawings, specifications and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
- Prepare and maintain detailed measurement sheets, re-measurement records and quantity take-offs using CostX, Bluebeam or Excel.
- Cost Planning & Control
- Assist in developing cost plans, budgets and forecasts based on measured quantities.
- Monitor actual expenditure versus budget; identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Interim Valuations & Payments
- Prepare monthly interim payment applications and valuation statements per contract terms.
- Coordinate with project teams to verify completed work, obtain approvals and follow up on payments.
- Variation & Claims Management
- Record, price and negotiate variations, change orders and extension-of-time claims.
- Prepare supporting documentation and maintain clear audit trails.
- Tender & Contract Support
- Contribute to tender submissions by compiling rate analyses, bill summaries and commercial appendices.
- Review contract documents and advise on contractual obligations, risks and clarifications.
- Final Account & Close-Out
- Assist in compiling final account statements; reconcile agreed sums and close out contractual matters.
- Archive measurement records, contract correspondence and commercial documentation.
- Reporting & Stakeholder Coordination
- Produce weekly/monthly commercial reports on payment status, cash flow and outstanding variations.
- Liaise with engineers, procurement, finance and external consultants to resolve commercial queries.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience:
- 3–7 years’ experience as a QS Engineer or Quantity Surveyor on UAE infrastructure or contracting projects.
- Proven proficiency in measurement, valuation and commercial management.
- Technical Skills & Software:
- Proficiency in CostX, Bluebeam, Cubit or similar take-off software; advanced Excel skills.
- Familiarity with MS Project or Primavera for linking commercial milestones to schedules.
- Knowledge & Certifications:
- Strong understanding of FIDIC/NEC contracts, UAE Building Code, Federal Decree-Law No. 33/2021 and local measurement codes.
- MRICS, AACEi CCP or equivalent accreditation is an advantage.
