DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Planning & Documentation
- Review project specifications, drawings and contracts to prepare the QA/QC plan, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), checklists and hold-point schedules.
- Control and maintain all quality documentation (e.g., Welding Procedure Specifications, Material Approval Requests).
- Inspection & Testing
- Perform and witness inspections and tests (soil, concrete, rebar, welds, coatings, etc.) per approved ITPs and supplier data sheets.
- Coordinate with third-party labs and NDT providers to verify material and workmanship compliance.
- Non-Conformance Management
- Identify, document and report non-conformities; issue NCRs and lead root-cause analyses.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions, verifying timely closure and effectiveness.
- Supplier & Subcontractor Control
- Audit and assess suppliers’ and subcontractors’ QMS; review submittals and material certifications.
- Conduct site and factory audits to confirm conformance to specifications and approved methods.
- Quality Reporting & Meetings
- Lead weekly quality review meetings; present KPIs, NCR status and lessons learned.
- Prepare and submit daily/weekly quality reports and compile records for project close-out.
- Continuous Improvement
- Analyze quality data to identify trends and process improvements; propose updates to procedures and training.
- Participate in value-engineering and optimization workshops to balance quality with cost efficiency.
- Training & Mentorship
- Deliver quality-awareness and procedural training to site teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Mentor junior QA/QC inspectors, ensuring competency in inspection techniques and documentation.
Qualifications
- Education:
– Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline. - Experience:
– 3–7 years as a QA/QC Engineer in the UAE construction or infrastructure sector.
– Proven track record with ITP implementation, NCR management and third-party testing coordination. - Certifications & Technical Skills:
– Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or equivalent preferred.
– Proficiency with QA/QC tools, NDT methods and MS Office; ERP/QMS software experience is an advantage. - Knowledge:
– Strong understanding of UAE Building Code, FIDIC quality clauses, ASTM, API and relevant international standards. - Core Competencies:
